Hiding from Google
Received a curious message from Google. In line with the “right to be forgotten“, somebody mentioned on this website actually submitted such a request. People who wish to be forgotten usually have a history of petty crime or similar misbehavior they are rightfully ashamed of.
Here’s the full message from Mountain View :

The good news is only fourteen people are mentioned in the post. A few short trial and error searches revealed a former Optiver low frequency trader doesn’t want to be found. Locked twitter account. Linkedin profile without picture for outsiders.
Why Simon Soet requested removal from Google? Beats me. After all, he was only mentioned because he did well as trader for Optiver. Earned 4 million. Nothing to be ashamed of, I would say. Maybe Simon is planning a career at a socialist political party.

It is company culture to keep a low profile.Head of trading back in the day used to brainwash everyone to be super secretive about their job, not network outside too much etc. The crazy thing was everyone was told to mention they are AEX traders. The whole marble bonus system was socialist to the core. Top traders paying for the non-performing ones

who cares, simon is a classic eg of optiver promoting one of the dutchchies to an ill-suited position, he might have been very good on single stocks, but there was only so much he knew about delta one, well at least he tried to clean up the legacy dead wood in that team, that aside he should have stayed in the area of his expertise and where optiver was seriously lacking top people
which firms are ready to trade the chinese etf options on monday?

if there are no volumes, people are not going to waste time making markets?
If that were true, there would be no market makers in options on Dutch smallcaps like Brunel or NSI.
I get lost in a noddles wok. Are we talking about Shanghai ETF options or Dutch smallcalps options? The average chinese investor doesn´t understand ETFs , much less options.

i had a conversation with a friend who works at akuna.. sounds like theyre still using the orc’s old wing model for vol surfaces (at least for their biggest desk – snp) and recently tried to switch over to the more recent spline model with very little success (he mentioned it cost something along the lines of 250k mistake).
so, what shops are using which models and is it that hard to move over from one to another?
if there are no volumes in Brunel or NSI, why are people still making markets?

optiver moved to spline a few years ago.. didnt have any problems like akuna had.. guess optiver had a bigger and better developer/quant team

optiver has bigger and better developer/quant team, wow, you got a real talent for reaching hard to figure conclusions
to his point, akuna does boast about how nimble they are and how quick turn around they have with transition that other bigger companies can’t manage because of their size.
